頂果法王



如果有人誹謗你、貶損你,那僅僅是你在過去批評、侮辱其他人,尤其是批評侮辱菩薩的結果。與其對這種人感到憤怒,相反的,你應該感謝他們給予你機會來清淨過去的錯誤行為。重要的是,在所有的情況下,你都要如實地依照教法來行止。尤其是在這種情況之下。如果你不應用教法,那麼領受教法有什麼意義?遭遇逆緣是你把教法付諸實修的最佳機會。

If someone libeling and disparaging you, it is only because you had criticized and insult others in the past, especially it is the result of criticized and insulted to Bodhisattva. Instead of feeling angry to these people, you should thank them for giving you the opportunity to clear your mistaken behaviors in the past. Most important is, no matter under what kind of circumstances, you have to apply Buddha's teachings to your behavior. Especially in these circumstances. If you do not apply Buddha's teachings in your life, so what is the use of received Buddha's teaching? Encounter obstacle is the best opportunity for you to practice Dharma.

If you could simply let go of the thought of "I", you would find it easy to be free, and to free others, too. If you overcome the belief in a truly existing self today, you will be enlightened today. If you overcome it tomorrow, you will be enlightened tomorrow. But if you never overcome it, you will never get enlightenment.

就最基本的層次而言,「自我真實存在」的想法即使是無明,並且由此生起所有其他負面的情緒。即使你發現自己處於最佳狀態,你也從不感到滿足。你總是想要更多。你幾乎不考慮他人的願望和欲求,你想要自己順心如意。如果你幫了一個人最小的忙。你會覺得自己做了一件相當了不起的事。

你如此專注於自己的快樂和福祉,忽略他人的快樂和福祉,即是你在輪迴中流浪的原因。如寂天大師所說:「世間所有的喜悅,來自希望他人快樂。世間所有的痛苦,來自希望自己歡樂。」
不要忘記上師,時刻向他祈請。
不要被念頭牽引而遊走,看著心的自性。
不要忘記死亡,堅持於佛法。
不要忘記有情眾生,以慈悲對待,並將功德迴向給他們。

Don't forget the Lama, pray to him at all times. 
Don't carried away by thoughts, watch the nature of mind.
Don't forget death, persist in dharma. 
Don't forget sentient beings, with compassion dedicate your merit to them.

去擔憂修行的進展緩慢,去想證悟是遙不可及、認為那只會在遙遠的未來才會發生,而感到挫折沮喪是毫無用處的。這種態度將増加你的焦慮不安,減損你用平靜沉穩的心來修行的能力。一如密勒日巴尊者所說:「切勿對成佛失去耐性。你要持續修行,直到最後一口氣。」

放下所有的希望和恐懼,安住在金剛的不變狀態之中;在這種狀態之中,明覺的本然離戲即是成佛本身。那即是圓滿無暇的至極大樂;在這種大樂之中,所有證悟的功德,都將毫不費力地蓬勃發展。

為了能夠成功地根除煩惱,你必須生起堅定而強烈的決心。否則,上師的教導將無法發揮太大的助益,你的修行也將一無所成。上師能夠引導你獲得證悟,但他無法像把一顆石頭擲天空一般,把你推向證悟之境。上師指示你修行的道路,但是否遵循這條道路,則取決於你。

由於情緒是威力強大的,你必須用具有同等力量的對治解藥來對抗它們。為了除掉一顆有毒的樹木,你必須連根拔除。光是修剪幾根樹枝是不夠的。同樣的,除非你根除情緒,否則它們將再度生起,甚至比之前更強大。


我們無法確定自己絕對不會受到疾病、邪惡力量的侵害。如果染上重病,我們應當想:「在這個世界上,有無數眾生和我一樣受苦。」如此生起強大的慈悲。如果我們突發心臟病,應當想:「宇宙中只要有空間存在,就有同樣受苦的眾生。」同時想像眾生的疾病集中在自己的心中。

這就是把困難帶入修道的方法。目的是讓我們從希望和恐懼中解脫。例如,希望自己不生病,或恐懼自己會生病。希望和恐懼將在快樂和痛苦的一味中得到平靜。透過菩提心的力量,我們最終會達到一個境界;在這境界中,就連成就菩提心信的希望,以及成就不了菩提心的恐懼,都可以得到解脫。


在宗薩欽哲仁波切年紀還很輕的時候,有一次一家人邀請頂果欽哲法王到他們家裡,為他們死去的一位家人修「破瓦法」。隨即,法王帶著年輕的宗薩欽哲仁波切到那個家庭為亡者修法。過了不久,亡者的臉部表情明顯有很祥和的變化,法王便對宗薩欽哲仁波切說:「應該差不多了。我有點事情要先回去,你留下來繼續為亡者誦經吧!」年輕的宗薩欽哲仁波切便留了在來,整夜一個人對著屍體誦經。

當時年輕的宗薩欽哲仁波切從昏暗的燭光下看到屍體,還要一個人面對它,心裡不禁有點害怕,感到很不自在,目光一直不想放在屍體上。好不容易天亮了,宗薩欽哲仁波切辦好了修法的事情,回到寺院。頂果欽哲法王見到仁波切,有點試探地問他:「你整晚一個人對著屍體,害怕嗎?」宗薩欽哲仁波切雖然害怕,但年輕人都比較逞強,便隨口回答說沒有啊!

頂果欽哲法王好像知道他的心意似的,然後法王語重深長地跟仁波切說:「你要記住啊!死了的人並不可怕。你應該害怕的,是那些活生生的人。」


當你追逐念頭的時候,你就像一隻追逐一根木棒的狗;每當木棒被丟擲出去,你就追著跑。但是相反的,如果你檢視念頭的來處,你將會了解,每一個念頭都在明覺的虛空中生起消融,沒有引動其他的念頭。你要像一頭獅子,不去追逐木棒,而是轉身面對那個丟擲木棒的人。你只能對着一頭獅子,丟擲一次木棒。

為了攻下心性這座非造作的城堡,你必須追本溯源,認清念頭的來處。否則,一個念頭會生起第二個念頭,然後生起第三個念頭等等。很快的,你將被緬懷過去和計劃未來所困,而當下的純然明覺就完全地遮蔽。


超越我執,全心全意為他人奉獻,即是菩薩行的精髓。行「菩薩行」取決於心,而非顯露於外的行動。真正的慷慨是沒有執著、真正的戒律是沒有貪欲、真正的忍辱是沒有嗔恨。菩薩之所以能夠捨棄自身的一切,就是因為他們已經完全超越了內在的貧乏,可以無條件地去實現滿足他人的願望與需要。 
當你正在看一部電影,電影裡出現的人們好像真的在戰鬥、彼此相愛等等,但是,這一切實際上都沒有發生。它們都只是幻想而已。嘗試把你所有的快樂和痛苦、種種悲歡離合,都看為你正在看一部電影。放下那些你要努力逃避的;無論是困難或不愉快的想法。這樣做將會令你的幸福堅不可摧。

When you are watching a film, people in it appear to be really fighting battles, loving each other, and so forth, but none of these things are actually happening. It is all just fantasy. Try to see all your joys and sorrows as if you were watching a movie, letting go of the idea that you have to strive hard to avoid whatever is difficult or unpleasant. This will make your happiness indestructible.

在夜間,檢視你在白天的行為和念頭,懺悔你的過失和欠考慮的輕率行為,並加以補救,是好的做法。告訴自己,你已遇見一位上師,領受了他的教導,你不應該做出如此的行徑。如果你做出正面的行為,你要把功德迴向眾生,並誓願在隔天從事更多的善行。

At night, it is good to examine what you have thought and done during the day, and to confess your faults and unconsidered actions and repair them. Tell yourself that, having encountered a teacher and received his instructions, you know better than to behave in that way. As for your positive actions, dedicate the merit to all beings and vow to improve on them the following day.

如果你有信心,觀世音菩薩的加持便不受任何時空的限制。

If you have confidence, the blessing from Avalokiteśvara will not be constrained neither by space or time.

法教中說:「由於眾生是無量的,因此祈願眾生安樂的利益也是無限的。」眾生究竟有多少啊?只要想一想,這塊草坪上可能有上億的眾生!如果我們祈願他們都能達到證悟成佛的境界,這種願望所產生的利益,將如同眾生的數量般廣大。

因此,我們不應把菩提心侷限於少數眾生之上。只要有虛空,就有眾生存在,而所有眾生都在受苦。為什麼要在他們之中劃分界限,擁抱一些被認為是可愛的朋友,排拒那些被認為是可怕的敵人呢?

It is said in the teachings that, 'Since beings are countless, the benefit of wishing them well is unlimited.' And how many beings the are? Just imagine, in this very lawn there might be millions and millions of them! If we wish to establish them all in the enlightened state of Buddhahood, it is said that the benefit of such an aspiration is as vast as the number of beings is great. 

Therefore, we should not restrict our Bodhicitta to a limited number of beings. Wherever there is space, beings exist, and all of them live in suffering. Why make distinctions between them, welcoming some as loving friends and excluding others as hostile enemies ?

用只顧今生、只追求自己的健康、長壽、舒適的狹隘眼界來修持佛法,是徒勞無益的。相反的,你應該努力思維自己在所有來世之中,將面臨什麼樣的狀況。你不應該只想及自己的未來,也要考慮所有眾生的未來。

無論你做什麼,行為背後的意圖決定了結果的善惡。你要掌控和轉化你的心。畢竟,這是佛法的目標。那麼,先檢視那些潛在的意圖和念頭是重要的。你修持佛法究竟是為了自身的利益,還是為了他人的利益呢?

正盛之青春年華,賜予我們健康和力量,熱切地想要享受人生。我們懷著不滅的熱忱,竭盡所能地來增加財富與權勢。對一些人來説,達成自己的目標,同時意味著要損害他人的利益。然而在死亡的時刻,我們將了悟,所有佔據我們心神的事物,是多麼虛榮無益。唉,但是到了那個時候,要回頭已經太遲了。

The flowering of youth showers us with health and strength, and makes us wants to enjoy life intensely. With unabated enthusiasm, we endeavor in every possible way to increase our fortune and our power. For some, succeeding in their own aims may well involve hurting others to do so. However, at the moment of death we will realize the futility of all these preoccupations and feverish activities. But by then, alas, it is too late to go back.

我們所做的一切包括聽聞、思索及禪修,都應被視為修心的助力。如果能運用菩提心,把一切納入修心的道理,我們可以培養出不可思議的正面心態。用這個對治方法,可以改變一直以來所生起的負面情緒。用這種方式,讓菩提心做為我們經常的朋友。

Whatever we do, listening to the teachings, contemplating or meditating upon them, we should take it all as an aid in our training. If we are able to use the Bodhicitta to bring everything onto the path, wholesome states or mind and positive thoughts will develop extraordinarily. By using the antidote, we should reverse all negative emotions that have so far arisen. In that way we should keep Bodhicitta as our constant friend.

一旦你戰勝內心的仇恨,你會發現外在的世界再沒有仇恨,乃至沒有一個敵人。

Once you overcome the hatred within your own mind, you will discover that in the world outside, there is no longer any such thing as even a single enemy.

當陽光照射在水晶之上,光的各種顏色像彩虹般出現;然而它們並不是實有,你不能把它抓住。同樣地,所有無窮無盡的想法當中,虔誠、慈悲、傷害、欲望等是完全沒實質的。這正是佛陀的心。

When sunlight falls on a crystal, lights of all colors of the rainbow appear; yet they have no substance that you can grasp. Likewise, all thoughts in their infinite variety -devotion, compassion, harmfulness, desire - are utterly without a substance. This is the mind of the Buddha.

要對你所擁有的一切普通事物感到滿足,但是對佛法卻要永遠不要如此。如果你那些普遍的欲望與喜惡是那麼貪得無厭,但另一方面卻對佛法毫無希望,你只會越來越沉淪並往下墮。

Be satisfied, therefore, with whatever you have by way of ordinary things -but never with the Dharma. If your ordinary desires and dislikes are insatiable, on the other hand and you have no wish for the Dharma, you can only sink lower and lower.

慈悲應該是對所有的眾生都沒有偏見,不去分辨哪些是朋友,哪些是敵人。而且應該在心中持續保持這種慈悲,以做出正面的舉動。即使獻上一朵花,或者念誦一個咒語,都應加上一種希望,願所有眾生,沒有例外的,都能得到利益。

Compassion should be to all sentient beings without bias, do not distinguish between friend and enemy. And should continue to maintain such compassion in your mind, in order to do positive actions. Even offering a flower, or recite a mantra, should be coupled with a hope; may all sentient beings, with no exception, can be benefited.

如果我們任由心隨負面的喜好遊走,自然會走上輪迴之路。

If we let our mind drifting along and follows the negative things we fond of, we are walking ahead to the path of samsara naturally .

儘管太陽的光芒有多熱熾,除非集中起來,否則不會燃燒起枯草。我們必須用虔誠的放大鏡去集中上師的智慧和慈悲,以燃點我們的自性(覺悟)。

No matter how hot the sun's rays, they will not ignite dry grass unless concentrated, and we need the magnifying glass of devotion to concentrate the light rays of the lama's wisdom and compassion to ignite realization in ourselves.
